This is a resonant female slave power figure from the Fon tribe of Benin, West Africa. There is bar between the teeth obstructing speech, a talismanic bundle at the solar plexus, metal chains around the neck, and the hands tethered behind the back. Has a slightly encrusted patina, suggesting libations. In good condition. This item is could have been tribally used. Height approx 30cm.
