A KIFWEBE MASK FROM THE SONGYE TRIBE OF CONGO C. AFRICA ( No 0035 )

£165.00
This is a vigorous mask from the Songye people of the Congo in Central Africa. Has sculpturally unusual form which looks interesting from all angles. Fine lines engraved throughout.  The black and white design is particularly stunning.  A non classic example, which goes in its favout.  The patina has a remnants of white pigment and black dye.. In good condition. Length of mask approx 50cm. Because of the popularity and demand for this type of mask, on the balance of probabilities, it has probably not been tribally used. Stand not included.
