This is a pretty, maternal altar figure from the Nyamwesi people of Tanzania, East Africa. All the features are paraphrased. The baby on the back is evocatively depicted. The patina is moderate with a subtle sheen. In good condition. Height approx 40cm. This item has possibly been tribally used, but we are not sure. Custom base included.
